Radisson Blu Manchester airport review
When you’ve enjoyed a fantastic holiday, you never want it to end, but as my husband, our son and I touched down at Manchester Airport after a trip abroad, we knew our break didn’t have to finish at passport control.
Arriving late in the evening, and knowing that our three-year-old son would be a little weary after travelling, we’d booked a room at the Radisson Blu on the airport site.
Linked to terminals one and two by the “Skylink” – an elevated covered walkway – we were checked-in and relaxing within minutes of collecting our bags.
In fact, the hotel is so close, our boy barely got chance to hop on his trusty Trunki to ride from the luggage carousel to the reception.
Terminal three is a little further away, but passengers travelling from there and staying at the hotel have use of an exclusive shuttle service to get them safely on their way.
The hotel is currently undergoing a £10m transformation and on the way to our room, we spotted parts that have already been completed, including a gorgeous new restaurant.

The receptionist explained that work would be taking place during our stay but we didn’t notice any noise or mess – areas under refurbishment are hidden behind temporary walls and as our boy slept in until 10am, our snooze was completely undisturbed.

Our room – designed with an Oriental theme – was huge, with a giant bed, a spotless bathroom and lovely furniture.
We washed with the luxury bathing products provided, changed into the fluffy robes and slippers that had been left on our bed and ordered room service.
Completely relaxed, I had such a restful night that I was up well before the other two for an early-morning swim in the hotel’s beautiful pool.
There is also a gym, which was surprisingly busy for the hour, a steam room and sauna, and a beauty room, which offers pampering treatments perfect pre or post-getaways.
I knew my boys would not miss breakfast, so I headed there afterwards to meet them where we feasted on traditional cooked items, fruit, continental options and pastries before checking out feeling refreshed and refuelled.

We would not hesitate to book a stay at the hotel should we be lucky enough to be jetting off in the future, not only to keep that holiday glow going a little longer, but also to start the fun earlier by staying there before flying, too.
Having glimpsed some of the results of the hotel’s makeover, we don’t want to miss the upgrade take-off, too.
