A review of Baglioni Hotel, an Italian family-friendly luxury hotel in London close to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace
As we arrived in central London, guards on horseback paraded past us for the Trooping the Colour ceremony for the Queen’s official birthday.
A fitting start to our weekend at the Baglioni Hotel London, where we had booked the special A Royal Occasion package.
This included a one-night stay at the gorgeous five-star property, one of the Leading Hotels of the World, with breakfast, a tour of nearby Kensington Palace and champagne afternoon tea for two.

After taking the early train from Hull to King’s Cross, we made the short journey via the underground to Knightsbridge to take a walk through Hyde Park and into Kensington Gardens, which the hotel is opposite.

After relaxing in our stunning junior courtyard suite, with separate generously sized living area, bedroom and bathroom, we headed downstairs for afternoon tea at the immaculately set tables in the Brunello Restaurant.
Baglioni is a luxury Italian hotel group and there were some fabulous Italian twists added to this great British tradition, such as a lighter-than-air tiramisu and Nutella cream to spread liberally on the freshly baked scones.

Our tour of the palace was the following day and one of the perks of the package is that you get in before it opens to the general public, with a private guide leading you in a group of no more than 30.
It lasts an hour and takes in the historic rooms, the gardens, and exhibitions, including Fashion Rules and Victoria Revealed. It’s an exclusive invitation not to be missed.
A Royal Occasion is available from £420 based on two adults sharing a deluxe room, including VAT.
